surface 5 drills, ski control, winter training

Since it is officially drysuit season here, I've started thinking about what kind of sets I want to be taking to minimize my falls in frigid water. For me, this means putting those new tricks on the shelf until Spring. So, if I want to improve my tricking abilities without working on the tricks I've been learning this season, what's the best way to do that?

I've got wake o's and wake bb's down, so the next tricks I'd really start working on are w5's. This has me thinking that the surface 5 drills (a la Joel Wing's trick instructional) may be good things to get comfortable with. Have many of you learned w5's by first dialing in surface 5's, and would you recommend it? Also, I often hear people say that just riding the ski around is a great way to get comfortable and improve ski control. Are there any good drills you would recommend? What kind of things do most of you do when riding around for fun/to improve?

I'm curious about two things: what you all do for fun riding your trick skis, and what are the key "tricks" people should practice that aren't actually official tricks (landing in the back and reverse back position from wake jumps, etc.)

What ever you did to the site, I can't add a reply to the last post on "What's wrong with this country"
     This is a reply to the last guy who quotes some statistics about how bad the United States health care system. You have the US just ahead of Cuba? What a laugh. If these stats are from a credible source, they are obviously sewed by someone with an agenda. Like I said before, I don't see the world flocking to Canada and certainly not Italy, who you list as #2, or any of the other social health systems for treatment.
   The thing I hate about a forum such as this, is that people like this shoot their mouth off and don't have any idea what they are talking about. I have been in the medical field all of my life. I am second generation doctor. My father's bother and his son are also doctors.  Sorry buddy, if you really believe this stuff you are shoveling, there is nothing I can do about it. You are obviously brain washed with what is spoon fed to you by those with a liberal agenda. You can not think for your self or examine if some stats given to you are credible or not. I give up on trying to reason with an idiot. It is a waste of time.
   I guess I will join some of the others in saying, keep your ignorant Canadian opinions out of our business and "who gives a rats ass" what a bunch of yellow snow eaters think.

Good Instructional Vids/China Skiing

I usually start skiing in march to prepare for the summer and collegiate season. But this year i will be out of the country in China until May 18. Are there any vids to help me dry land train. Wing's Trick video maybe, or west coast slalom, I already have flight school. Are there any schools or lakes in China that I could ski at. I wont be able to bring my ski, trick, or jumpers, so I would need to borrow some. Any help would be great, dont want to be behind when I get back to the states.

Jump skis for kids

I have a 10 year old who will be entering Boys 2 next year and he wants to jump. He has jumped a couple of times at ski schools on borrowed skis. The problem is how expensive jump skis are. I have been looking for the better part of two years to try and find a decent pair of used skis for under $400 and they don't seem to exist. Just last week a pair of 72" Connellys went for $910 on eBay.

Is this keeping other folks from letting their kids jump. We don't have a jump but I know where I could probably get him a set a week during the summer but I would feel bad asking if we could come use the jump and looking to borrow equipment as well.

Do kids jumpers need to be made like jumpers for adults. I know it isn't a big market but it is too bad there is no money to be made with affordable jumpers for kids. I don't think I can sell my wife on writing the check for some new Goodman's for an 11 year old.

Contact dermatitis from wetsuits

Just wondering if others in the ski community have/are experiencing contact dermatitis symptoms from exposure to neoprene?

Are there any known alternatives to neoprene wetsuits?
