How long do you think it will take to get this one approved given it's not Freddy?

I have been Chief of Meters or Technical Controller for over 10 World Records in jump.  As long as the video is good and the survey and numbers are correct, it should not take much more than 2 weeks for an approval.

On the video, he gets huge height over the water.

Video:  needed to show the landing's first contact with the water.  Now that
Video Jump is a requirement.  Also needs to show the VJ registration buoys.

Palm Bay. Google "Ryan Dodd 254" and you'll find video. Impressive!

The search suggestion above works.

Really impressive is the way he slips through the wakes like they aren't there.

Freddy has to break it first and have his approved within 2 weeks. A year after that Ryan's will be approved.

I would be surprised if 254 stands.  It was definitely a great jump, and there is no doubt Ryan is the only one knocking on the door of the record right now.  But when you are going 220, 230, 240, every foot is like a mile.  I'm not sure what Ryan's longest was before this (243, 244 maybe), but it would take a freak of circumstances to boot one 10 feet further than you have ever went before.  Not saying it is impossible, just saying it is unlikely. An awesome jump for sure either way. I hope it stands for Ryan's sake, but I bet it is reduced under 250 when all is said and done.

It may be 10 feet further than his longest TOURNAMENT jump, but who is to say that he doesn't put those type of jumps out there regularly practicing. Conditions have to be just right for that in a tourney.

I should have qualified that to include "tournament". Like I said, I don't know what his previous tournament PB is for sure. Who knows, he may bust out 270 at home regularly in practice, I don't know. I am not discounting anything Ryan did.  Like I said, I hope it stands for him. It was an accomplishment whether a world record or a tournament personal best.

he just set the course record at the Masters, one of the toughest places to jump.  He's on another level at this point.

Could turn on who the TC was and consequently which program was running to measure distance. Wasn't there, don't know, but if it wasn't Splasheye, I'd be nervous.

Leza Harrison set a pending W6 slalom record at the same event. That's twice since "aging up" after the 16 Nationals. Way to ski, Leza!

It wasn't splasheye. Ryan doesn't have cameras on poles is his back yard so so certainly doesn't have splasheye...

I went 250+ off of 5 1/2 ft in a tournament in Arkansas back in the 80's.

It took two jumps but I did it.  3 Johnson meters verified it, too.  LMFOAO...[biggrin]

Ryan is really kicking it.

Question

Not sure how the powers that be can approve a record that is recorded on a program that can't be verified by the approving officials like Mr Corson. I'm pretty sure this could be some of the delay.

Impressive, very much so.  I had figured that Freddy's 250 could have lasted a decade,
if not a generation.
