Scot reached out asking if I would be interested in taking over the Skifly forum ,he'd keep the Skifly store, not sure I am up to the task.

If I do take it over I'd make the gossip category with a anonymous option & all other categories with a login. Thoughts ?

Don't bother. Start your own.

SkiFly is dead. You can't disclose ISPs of ANONYMOUS posters.

Actually it is people like you ,that don't know where the limits of anonymous posting are , SkiFly  will not spend $$ on liable lawsuits protecting the privacy of someone that has a personnel vendetta against another skier. 1) money is not there !! 2) Giving you up was the right thing to do !!

That being said ,I am certainly not the person to take over here  ,It's like trying to heard cats [frown]

Brent,

That is the worst weasel sh*t I have ever heard. You can say anything you want on this website as long as it doesn't irritate Steve Garcia.

The recent deletions have nothing to do with Steve García & I don’t think Steve was ever given a IP address from someone on here .Steve reached out to me at 1 point because someone was disparaging him under my name , seems like a nice guy who loves the sport & has enough $$ to be able to support the sport to a degree as well , good on em :)

How come I check this forum every day to see if there is anything new, and there usually isn’t. But then about three days of discussion will suddenly appear. Seems to happen quite a bit. Anyone else notice it?

Brent,

The above comments about providing the IP addresses shows a lot of ignorance.

Comments on this or any forum are federally protected speech. Scot and Roger cannot be sued for comments on this forum. You might want to Google “Section 230 of Title 47 of the United States Code (47 USC § 230).” Or click https://www.eff.org/files/cda230.jpg

Additionally to legally correlate an IP address to a physical location requires a subpoena, court order, or warrant. The effort to identify users with IP addresses was either a boldface lie or was done illegally.

I am not a Lawyer nor am I even an American ,so my knowledge of American  law when it involves slander & the internet is not vast by any means . I think Skifly received a Lawyers letter pertaining to the Slanderous posts by K.T. regarding a very high end skier & SF decided to delete said posts & possibly gave up the I.P. address of the poster ( All guesses on my part ) .Ethically I think giving up the I.P. address was the right move but that's me .

So we can say anything we want about anybody we want until we cross some invisible line and then our identity is given to USAWaterSki?

Brent, you might want to consider that you don’t know what you’re talking about and maybe just stick with your statement of not being the person to take over here.  Anonymous means anonymous not giving out IP addresses which did happen.

You are incorrect that Steve Garcia wasn’t involved in any of this.  He got the entire thing started by claiming that he had proof of the person responsible but then when his shadowy involvement was made public he declared that he “did not want to be involved” however he still sent an e-mail to the committee in which he flat out lied and claimed that posts came from a specific address which is interesting since an independent 3rd party professional investigation company said that the posts did in fact NOT come from the address that he claimed.

Over the years there have been a lot of disgusting things posted about many different people on Skifly yet at that time Scot refused to remove them.

But now it’s okay for him to divulge IP addresses?  Why now?  Why this time?  As a part of the IAC I know that the posts that were used to try to keep Mark Shaw off of the US Team were about Steve Garcia, Nate Smith and Chad/Regina.  You’re seriously going to tell me that you think Steve wasn’t involved?  And if you were to read the posts you would shake your head at how absolutely ridiculous they were.  It was Steve Garcia in the background seemingly using Jim Jaquess as a pawn in that ordeal.

You may also want just stop posting all together considering you are guessing and therefore making your own “slanderous” posts towards the person you reference as K.T.

Not appropriate to tout and brag about a website being anonymous then give out IP addresses and also be judge and jury of what gets removed and what stays.

I think you should probably stay away from taking over Skifly as it surprisingly seems like it would actually be a downgrade of leadership.

I have no intention of taking over SkiFly 😉

K.T. had FB hissy fit that kinda confirmed he was the disgruntled entity . BTW I am not using the full name that had been posted at 1 point which alluded to the FB posts .

I wish you luck 😉

Kyle Tate skips 38, opts up 35-39, 1@41 for the win. Ballsy move. Signature KT.

Again, so incredibly ill informed Brent.  You absolutely do no know all of the details and yet you continue to run your mouth.

KT was standing up for a friend of his that was being completely wronged.  He was being investigated off of what Steve Garcia told Jim Jaquess and convinced Jim Jaquess to launch an unsupported witch hunt   And then after Steve was outed as being involved no longer wants to be involved?  Not sure it works that way but it did this time and the head of the IAC decided to move forward with the investigate ensuring himself a place among the Garcia clan...

I feel terrible that I didn’t stand up for Mark myself within the IAC.  I wish I could go back and do it differently....do what was right.  I am relieved he was able to ski so well in Chile and help the US Team win
